Healthcare Marketing, Corporate Headshots & Interior Photography for Klinik Haramain, Jenjarom
Nurses at Klinik Haramain, Jenjarom
The Assignment
I recently completed a photography assignment for Klinik Haramain, a 24-hour medical clinic in Jenjarom, Selangor.
The assignment was part of their website refresh and marketing campaign.
The brief was straightforward. Corporate headshots of doctors and nurses, clinic interiors, facilities and marketing photographs showing medical consultations and treatments.
The photographs would be used across their website, social media, Google Business Profile, advertisements and future business proposals.
One photography session, multiple purposes.
And we had approximately four hours to get everything done.
Corporate Headshots and Clinic Interior Photography
Clamshell setup of Doctors Headshot at Klinik Haramain
We started with the corporate headshots.
I brought a simple clamshell lighting setup with a beauty dish. Clean, flattering lighting with a consistent look across the portraits.
Of course, photographing doctors isn't always the same as photographing corporate executives.
Some are comfortable in front of the camera. Others need a little encouragement.
During this assignment, a few doctors preferred not to be photographed.
That wasn't part of the original plan.
Rather than spend too much time convincing them, we adjusted the shooting list and photographed individual portraits of the nurses instead.
And the nurses? They were fun to work with!
Sometimes, being flexible is just as important as having a proper shooting plan.
Next came the interior and facilities photography.
Klinik Haramain is a regular working medical clinic with consultation rooms, treatment areas and medical equipment.
Nothing particularly fancy.
But that's perfectly fine.
My job wasn't to make the clinic look like a luxury medical centre. It was to photograph the actual environment and present it professionally.
For the interiors, I worked mainly with available light, keeping the photographs clean and natural.
These images would help potential patients see the facilities before visiting, giving the marketing team useful materials for various platforms.
Creating Healthcare Marketing Photographs
This was probably the more interesting part of the assignment.
Apart from photographing the staff and facilities, we needed photographs showing the clinic's medical services in action.
So we staged several mock consultations and treatments, with doctors and nurses acting as our models.
These included consultation scenes, treatment situations and X-ray-related photographs.
I used softbox lighting and directed the subjects on where to stand, where to look and how to interact.
But there's one thing about photographing medical procedures.
I'm a photographer, not a medical professional.
Healthcare Marketing Photographs - Klinik Haramain, Jenjarom
I know how to make a photograph look good. But I don't necessarily know whether a particular medical procedure is being demonstrated correctly.
So I asked the nurses to double-check the scenes.
If something didn't look right medically, we corrected it.
The photographs needed to look natural and make sense to someone working in healthcare.
Simple collaboration, but an important one.
Seeing the Photographs on Klinik Haramain's Website
One of the things I enjoy about commercial photography is seeing where the photographs eventually end up.
Klinik Haramain has started using photographs on its refreshed website at klinikharamain.my.
Fun to see my photo being used on their website
It's satisfying to see the images being put to use.
During the shoot, I'm thinking about lighting, composition, expressions and getting the right moments.
But once the photographs are delivered, they become marketing assets.
A consultation photograph can help illustrate a medical service.
A photograph of the clinic's facilities gives visitors an idea of what to expect.
And the same collection can be reused for advertisements, social media and corporate presentations.
Behind the Scene at Klinik Haramain
That's why I always encourage clients to think about how their photographs will be used before the actual session.
Four Hours and a Few Changes to the Plan
The actual photography session took approximately four hours.
Space was limited in some rooms, so I had to work around furniture, medical equipment and whatever space was available.
Nothing unusual for location photography.
A beauty dish for headshots, softboxes for staged scenes and available light for interiors.
Simple setups for different requirements.
And despite a few changes to the original shooting plan, we managed to get through the session.

One Lesson From This Assignment: Preparation Matters
If there's one thing worth sharing, it's this.
Good communication before the photography session is just as important as good lighting during the shoot.
You can prepare a shooting schedule, set up your equipment and arrive early.
But if the people involved aren't properly briefed, the plan can change very quickly.
For clinics and corporate organisations, I always recommend having the person in charge coordinate with everyone involved beforehand.
Let them know why the photographs are needed, how they'll be used and when they should be available.
If anyone has concerns about being photographed, it's better to address those before the shooting day.
A little preparation makes the entire session easier for everyone.
Photography for Healthcare Businesses
A clinic doesn't necessarily need a huge production to create a useful library of professional marketing photographs.
Behind the scene - Doctor's Headshot at Klinik Haramain
For Klinik Haramain, we covered several photography requirements within one four-hour session.
Corporate headshots, staff portraits, clinic interiors, facilities and staged medical consultations.
And now, some of those photographs are being used as part of the clinic's marketing efforts.
That's what commercial photography should achieve.
Photographs that don't simply look good, but have a purpose beyond the day they were taken.
